Why Townsville homes love shutters
- Light exactly how you like it. Tilt the louvres to let the breeze and light in, or close them right up.
- Privacy without the dark. Angle the blades so you can see out while the street can't see in.
- Low maintenance. A quick wipe and they're done. No fabric to wash or fade.
- Adds value. Shutters lift the look of a home and are built to last for years.
The Inspire range
GNB fits Inspire plantation shutters, made by Ozroll at its factory in Stapylton, Queensland. They're made from a poly-composite that looks like painted timber but stands up to humidity better than wood, which counts for a lot in a Townsville summer.
- Won't crack or warp. Inspire guarantees the material won't crack, warp, shrink or discolour.
- Water resistant. Made for bathrooms, kitchens and other wet areas.
- Helps with the heat. Inspire shutters are accredited under the WincovER star rating program for window coverings, and Inspire rates their insulation at three times that of timber.
- No cords. Tilt the louvres with a clear-tilt gear hidden inside the panel, so nothing blocks the view, or with a classic tilt rod.
Choosing a panel style
- HingedSwing open like small doors. The usual choice for windows and bay windows.
- Bi-foldFold back like a concertina, for wide windows.
- SlidingRun along a track and stack to one side. Best for doors and busy doorways.
- FixedFor windows that don't open, or tight spots like behind a sink.
Panels taller than 1.5 metres have a rail across the middle, and can go up to 2.9 metres high. We'll work out the right style for each window at the measure.

Before and after
AfterLooking after them
- Dust or wipe them with a damp cloth.
- For a deeper clean, use mild soap and warm water. A gentle water-based household cleaner shifts stubborn marks.
- Skip the harsh stuff. No scourers, bleach or solvent-based cleaners.
- Keep the hinges moving with a light spray of silicone now and then.
This is Ozroll's own care advice, and following it is a condition of the warranty.
The warranty
Inspire shutters carry Ozroll's warranty against manufacturing faults:
- 15 yearsThe shutter panels and frames
- 3 yearsPaint, internal parts such as the tilt gears and louvre pins, and stainless steel parts
- 1 yearOther hardware, such as hinges, screws and tracks
It doesn't cover storm damage, rough handling, or shutters cleaned with the wrong products. Near the coast, it requires stainless steel hinges and screws, which we fit as standard. More in our warranty and care guide.
Mix shutters with blinds and curtains
Shutters aren't right for every window. Most homes mix them with roller blinds or S-Fold curtains, and we'll help you work out what suits each room. Our guide to shutters or blinds
